The village of Rijal Alma, 45 kilometers west of the city of Abha, is a unique example of the diverse heritage and culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The village Rijal of Alma was classified by the United Nations World Tourism Organization among the list of the best tourist villages in the world, on the sidelines of the organization's general session, which was held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, during an official ceremony.
The initiative of the best Tourist villages, which was announced during the tourism promotion summit held in Riyadh last May, aims to shed light on outstanding examples of rural tourism that combines cultural and natural components, along with the preservation of lifestyles and societal values.
The World Tourism Organization chose Rijal Alma village out of 175 Destinations that participated in this ceremony, representing 75 countries. This achievement underscores the importance of using tourism as a force for positive change in societies and a commitment to sustainable development.
Located in one of the six-story buildings, the Alma Men Museum houses photographs, artwork, and antique collectibles. It is also a center for art and history.
The village includes 16 forts that were restored in 2017, and in 2017, Rijal Alma' village was awarded the Prince Sultan bin Salman Award for its rich urban heritage.
